My Role

Part of the conceptualization phase and responsible for the experience strategy and design of the iOS app. I individually handle the UX work, producing all major deliverables while working alongside with a Software engineer who takes care of the tech side of the application.

Problem

Every morning seems to be a mind racking task when it comes to pick up clothes to wear for the day. Not just that, it is also almost impossible to pick out something to wear when you need to attend a function.

Carry your Wardrobe wherever you go

WRDRB is a digital wardrobe which provides you access to all your clothes and helps you pick out your #OOTD every day. Wrdrb studies your style and acts as your personal stylist by picking out the best combinations from your wardrobe.

WRDRB also suggests clothes outside of your wardrobe to match with some of the clothes that you have. For e.g. if you have a denim shirt and you are missing those pants which go with it, Wrdrb will help find the best ripped blue jeans for you to match with your shirt.

In addition to that you will also have the facility to keep a track of your clothes from outside of Amazon by simply clicking a pic and uploading it to the Wrdrb app. This way based on the current fashion trend or your own personal style, Wrdrb will help you pick out the best combination to put on. You will surely be amazed of the various other ‘small but big’ features Wrdrb has to offer.

Why we decided to create Wrdrb

It is a pain waking up and having to pick out the best possible combination of clothes that look good on us, are washed and match with each other. Often, it happens that we have a bunch of clothes lying in our wardrobe and we use only them which we think would go well together.

Living in a world that we are, being up to date with what’s out there is something we tend to achieve and Wrdrb aims on bringing you up to speed with all the fashionistas by keeping your style alive.

Learnings through Research & Surveys

We created a questionnaire to understand the needs and wants of the audience. We targeted people of different age groups, 12-21 which consist of the younger generation and 22-35 and above who belong to the working class. According to the studies, we learnt that different groups would be using the application for different purposes.

We received a lot of good vibes from the people and were motivated enough to move ahead with the idea.

Features that were identified

-Categorization by color, fabric, weather, type of apparel and occasion

-Stay up to date with the trend

-Number of times clothing was worn

-Notify if certain clothing has not been worn for a while

-Search functionality

Studying what’s out there

We learned a lot by checking out apps/services which cater to delivering clothing experiences. Some of them were Trendy Butler, Five Four, Stitch Fix etc.

Features and limitations noticed:

-Gathering detailed clothing information of Customers including body measurements

-Customers get to try out new trends

-Usage of own brands

-General taste of style curation

-Individual customer dressing sense is not determined

Existing digital wardrobe apps

We also studied some of the digital wardrobe applications out there like Closet+, ClosetSpace, Pureple, etc. One of the most popular one is Closet+. What we learnt from these apps:

-Difficult navigation due to large number of features not clustered well

-No clear idea of how the combination will look unless tried on

-No easy method to upload clear pictures of your clothing

-Feature of pairing with online products not provided

User Personas

Considering the huge demographic, I learnt that the age group 17-25 is a major chunk of the likely population to use Wrdrb. I also found an incrementing graph in the age group of 30-40 who are business professionals but also enjoy online shopping.

Affinity Mapping

Conducting this part of the process helps in building a strong strctural foundation for the application to build upon.

Structuring of data

I accumulated a lot of elements in the form of features, pain points and prospects to scale
